Amaren

Bodegas Amaren was born in honor of Ángeles, wife of Luis Cañas and mother of Juan Luis (Bodegas Luis Cañas, Rioja Alavesa). In 1995, Juan Luis Cañas was devising the idea of making a different wine, a wine that would express the variety's personality to the fullest. A 100% Tempranillo from several plots of old vineyards. At that moment, his mother Ángeles passed away and that is when he decided to dedicate his creation to her, his new perfume: Amaren Reserva Tempranillo 1995. That's where everything comes from, love for a mother, because Amaren in Basque means "of the mother". Ángeles was a fundamental pillar in the creation and development of Bodegas Luis Cañas and for this reason, her son did not stop until he was able to honor her with his own winery in 2016. Cement, stone and wood, that is the essence of Amaren.
